首次报道了(+)-Granatumine A的合成。作者用6步合成两个片段,并用Knoevenagel反应将两个片段汇聚在一起,并通过电环化构建最后吡啶环,整个合成总共十步,简洁高效。此外,在这个合成中作者还报道了两种非常有用的方法:一是用烯丙基钯催化酮α,β脱氢化得到α,β不饱和酮。二是用钯催化环氧酮得到1,3二酮。
